Special Thanks and Appreciation
It hardly feels like Fall but, Halloween is over and it’s suddenly November. This is often a month we’re reminded about gratitude, and I wanted to take the opportunity to express mine. In spite of the unbelievable state of affairs we find ourselves living with, there are a lot of good things happening in my life!
First off, an update and a big thanks to everyone who participated in the Soup Bowl Soiree. A couple of days before the event I was feeling very discouraged, I didn’t think I had enough artists with bowls and people kept telling me they had other plans and couldn’t make it this year. I was questioning whether I should even do it, but the word was already out and I had to follow through.
Then just before 6 o’clock on the day, people started arriving, people I didn’t even know who had heard about it and just wanted to be part of it! Then more artists with bowls started rolling in. It turned out to be a great evening and we came very close to our goal of $1000. We made $985 and the really great news is that the Marin Food Bank has an anonymous benefactor that will match donations right now-so we really managed to contribute $1970!!
I’d also like to thank Marnie Delaney of former Doodlebug fame for giving me her electric kiln. It has changed a lot about how I can fire and what kind of firings I can do–so great for class!
I also have a new and great opportunity to participate in the Mill Valley First Tuesday Art Walk. I’m going to have work on display all November at fellow artist, Tilly Nylan’s salon, On The Avenue. There will be an opening on Tuesday evening, November 6th, but I will be starting a new class session so I won’t be able to be there! You can stop in and see the work at 167 East Blithedale Ave in Mill Valley, Monday through Saturday between 9-7. Thanks so much Tilly!
And finally, with the help of my friend Carole Nelson, I have this new little piece in the 12×12 show at Cabrillo College. This will also be up from November 5th through December 7th and sales help the school art program.
I’d like to thank everyone who helped support me this year in so many different ways. I got great advice when I needed it, unfailing help from my family with big projects, valuable feedback on new work, and perhaps most touching-the show of support and appreciation for my work by my buyers. Thank you all so much!
I’ll be participating in the Fairfax Holiday Faire again this December so plan ahead for gift opportunities!
