It’s all about virtual

When almost all of the upcoming art shows got canceled or postponed or went virtual, I felt a kind of freedom. There was nothing to be applying for or promoting–there was nothing coming up. I didn’t have any should’s, so I could just make!  It’s been so fun and freeing, kind of like being a kid, I’ve just been playing, experimenting and following my curiosity.

But now, I hear Mom calling, it’s time to go home and there are in fact, a few things coming up that need attention. The Contemporary Clay show at the Western Colorado Center for the Arts is going ahead with in-person visits and also a simultaneous virtual show. So, these two pieces are getting shipped out to Colorado for the show which will start June 5th. Unfortunately, there will be no opening reception but, at least something is happening!

Normally, I would be hosting  an open studio next weekend, May 9th and 10th with Marin Open Studios. Sadly, the in-person visits have been canceled but, a virtual show is up on their website. https://marinopenstudios.org  This is a quick peek at some of what I’ve been working on.

I will be hosting a virtual Open Studio with little tour of what I’ve been working on and questions answered. It will be happening on Saturday May 9th from 4pm-4:30pm. This year you’ll have to bring your own strawberries and wine! Just click on this link https://marinopenstudios2020.org/event/shoshana-parrys-studio-tour-with-questions-and-answers/  at the correct time and you’ll be included . Hope to see you all there!

Life is always so interesting, and right now it seems like much of our experience is happening virtually. Currently, while our output in real, most of how art-meets-world is virtual and I, for one, am definitely looking forward to experiencing things first hand again!

  • Hi Shosh!
Thank You for sharing your work! You are inspirational in your work and in your approach to all things!!! Have you considered doing an online class? We could pick up clay, “work” together on Zoom/Google Hang Out and then drop off things to be baked? Glaze at home? Molly and I are missing your classes very much and I know were not alone.
    Be Well,
    Colette

    • Hi Colette,
I am trying to figure out how classes will continue and what form they can take. It’s the glazing that’s the biggest problem. Zoom and drop offs might be an answer. I’m trying out Zoom this weekend with the Open Studio so I’ll know better if that works. Thanks for the encouragement and I’ll keep you posted as to how this all continues!
      Stay wee,
      Shoshana
