What do we want from life?

I’ve been experiencing the plague of modern life lately–feeling that all my time is overbooked with high expectations of fitting everything into 24 hours.  Either I have work or daily life maintenance, like laundry, grocery shopping, dinner cooking, etc. and some how I’m suppose to fit in exercise and relaxing too. But then there’s this precious time that’s carved out to do the thing I love so much–ceramics!  It’s so rewarding. Glaze Firing Day

  I’m running my second glaze firing in two weeks and it’s great to be in the studio so much. My goal is to make 60 objects in 120 days including glazing and firing, and production is coming right along. The funny thing is although I have all day in the studio, it’s hard to concentrate on building or glazing. The lesson must be to schedule OTHER studio tasks on firing days. Hope everything turns out!

I like to make things

  Sometimes it’s a sculpture–and that’s freedom. Freedom to make something that meets only my aesthetic requirements. Freedom to explore an idea and change my mind and to respond to the thing I’m making.  Freedom to follow the process, see where it takes me and feel the joy.
