Exploring

It’s one month into my new adventure and I’m definitely still finding my feet!
There are still moments I think of putting things on hold because I have to go to work for the next three days and then realizing, yes! you do go to work for the next three days–for yourself!
It’s pretty exciting knowing that everything I do is my decision and the rewards or failings are all mine to figure out. 

A lot of what I’ve been working on initially is the business end of things. I’ve been figuring out new class offerings and workshops, more wholesale and retail opportunities, being more visible in the ceramics community and how to promote everything! That, I’ve realized, is a never ending part of the job.
I’ve also been getting all techie and revving up my website as you’ll see below when you click on the class link.

One of the fun thing I’ve started is a weekly play time. That’s one hour of uninterrupted time to explore new ideas and forms. There are sooo many things I want to try out! New forms for the ‘Coastal’ and ‘Color Block’ series, some large pots based on ancient ceramics from Crete, and vases of all kinds!

These are the first vase trials in rough form. They need some more detailing and finishing and then I have plans for some little bud vases!

One Night of Handbuilding

Saturday, February 14th: 7-9pm

Bring your partner, your bestie or your mom because clay is more fun together!

Cost: $150 for two people – a larger group is also welcome!

Skill Level: All levels, great for beginners.

Want to learn the basics of handbuilding pottery in a relaxed and fun atmosphere? Join me in my Fairfax studio for this one night class. Everything will be provided including as little or as much instruction as you want and need. Fees include clay, tools for your use, glaze, firing and a glass of wine or a cup of tea. Be ready to get a little dirty!

What to Expect
After class your work will be glazed (using the glaze of your choice), fired, and ready for pick up within a few weeks
